The video is based on the idea that by repeating a word it takes on new meaning. A phrase was chosen and repeated until I was too tired to continue or I made a mistake. Phrases included "Art is good", "Data" AND "I don't know".

It was performed live at the Crowd6 gallery in Bearwood in 2008(?) where the word chosen was 'Buy' and the volume of the speech was increased steadily until shouting.

A wooden crate with plastic wrapping. From it can be heard the sound of running water. On top of it is a small hammer. Written on the front is graffittied 'Hit Me'. When struck with the hammer, the crate emits the sound of braking glass from the point of impact.

The piece suggests hidden spaces and produces unexpected sounds from explorative/destructive action.

Re-filming Pulp Fiction, I putting the story back into order, and used Spice Girl dolls and football figures as the actors.

The dialogue was taken from the original script and is displayed only as text on screen, accompanied by a gloomy Miles Davies jazz soundtrack.

More a play on imagery, than a real comic strip - Dexstah & Babs will make you wet your pants with it's bizarre comedy.

Dexstah & Babs started life in the epic classic "Babs & Dec meets Bobafeck" in which the two meet the Star Wars character in Halesowen shopping. Babs dies or something.....I can't remember, anyway...

From humble beginnings, about 38 Dexstah & Babs' exist along with other side comics such as "The Greys" and "Noddy and Bowlee"

They were created by two people who will only be reffered to as Babs and Dexstah and are true to life.

Character Profiles

Count Crispsnack has never been interested in anything except sport, sadly, he was born with dirty goth-type looks.
Coltrane is an intellectual private detective.
Peter Organic-Bananos is a Boswegian Porno-Opera singer who enjoys the pleasures of spearmint with his bath mate.
Halden Brau is the sister of Malcolm Brau and who by some miscalculation of nature is only able to speak in Gabba. Halden dissaproves of her brother's relationship with Peter.
Malcolm Brau. Lover of Peter Organic-Bananos. Brother of Halden. Speaks in whistles and pops. Sexual deviant, often performing bizarre acts of self-satifaction and mutation involving beans.
The Bush. After growing peacefully for thousands of years, the bush's foul temper is enraged by having a sportsman hurled into his anus.
Mr. Neal resembles an evil green goat despite his horrifying appearance.
Ms. Bradley is developer carpet potential and eye-ball enthusiast.
Mr. Garbett loves to ride inside his best friend Bluey.

Madder than a box of cackling Irishmen, Bazooka Chicken are to music what cutting your own hair is to small children.

More zany than Ross from friends, this infantile band create an un-ending sludge of pathetic half-cut ditty's, euro-pop football anthems and nonsense-songs that should never have been recorded.

Not satisfied any longer with just a microphone, recent outings have included live performance, instructional videos and a rather crap shop.

To play Bed the viewer must lie in the hospital bed. The game is broken into two sub-games; ATTACK and ACCIDENT.

ATTACK is based on an incident in which an ex-girlfriend and I were attacked by a group of boys in Stourbridge. The aim is to keep damage to my character to a minimum before a taxi arrives. ACCIDENT is based on a car crash, in which I broke my neck and back.

The games try to dramatise violent and harmful events as TV, cinema and photography can, but also to trivialise these events and transform them into safe and entertaining simulated games. They are not only exaggerated reconstructions of the events, but aim to emphasise acts of defense, protection and retaliation in violent circumstances.

Other issues raised are; my involvement with the public and their intervention in my life; the stereotyping of people, situations and structures of events; and questions of damage, conflict and motivation, and their representation and effect upon behavior.

The Illegal Rave was an attempt to create an immediate physical reaction and an atmosphere, instead of an object or image.

By inspiring people to dance to music, I tried to get the audience to become the center of attention and to give them an arena in which to react.

As the DJ at the event, I am generating a direct send & response communication from me to the audience and then back, as I respond to their reactions and vice versa.

In a corridor at UCE I made a house made of wallpaper, with a glass roof and glass floor. Inside I danced for over an hour to Rave music on a walkman inside a sleeping bag.

Passers by had to peek through the gaps in the wallpaper. Inspired by West African Dance Ritual.

Snoopyhead I & II

A performance in which a small plastic head of the cartoon character Snoopy is used as a fetish in a process of contemplation, creation, reward and destruction.

Waring a paper mask of myself I use mushrooms as a divining device to assess the worth of artworks and marks.

The process is shown below;

Divining Process

1. take resource
I take paper from wall (left)

2.concentration/contemplation
I think of Snoopyhead

I draw Snoopyhead

4. placement of growth
I put mushroom on drawing

5. observation of growth potential
I watch mushroom

I choose whether mushroom thinks drawing/Snoopyhead is good or bad

If bad - I smash mushroom & rip up drawing. If good - I eat yogurt & jellies

Belted up and wrapped in cling film, then strung-up from a scaffold in mountaineering gear I was essentially a living installation captured on video.

Filming had to be stopped prematurely because I was seconds from throwing up. Based on the umbilical relationship between the individual and social structures.
